FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO, ONTARIO, February 13, 2025 — Today, SVX expanded its Impact Index with a new Managed Products Collection, featuring five impact funds from three leading firms: Rally Assets, Genus Capital Management, and Addenda Capital. Representing a significant step forward for Canada’s impact investing sector, these funds span equities, fixed income, and multi-asset strategies, each adhering to rigorous standards for governance, transparency, and measurable impact.

The SVX Impact Index is a comprehensive database featuring the universe of impact investing products that are available to Canadian investors. Impact Index+ is a qualified set of impact investment offerings that must meet strict impact, governance, and financial standards. Offerings are vetted by external reviewers, an Advisory Group of industry professionals, and the SVX team.

The expansion into managed products reflects the growing maturity and diversification of impact investing in Canada, where billions in assets are dedicated to mobilizing capital to climate solutions, social equity, and sustainable economic development. As the sector grows, investors are seeking a wide range of diversified, high-impact options that align financial returns with social and environmental outcomes.

Managed products, which can include public equities, fixed income, cash, and alternative assets in pooled structures, offer investors a structured and professional approach to impact investing, while maintaining rigorous governance and accountability standards.

The newly featured funds reflect a trend toward holistic impact investment approaches that integrate negative and positive screening, and active ownership practices. Each fund takes a multi-sector, multi-theme approach, addressing critical global challenges such as climate change, sustainable resource management, and social equity.

By integrating managed products into the Impact Index, SVX is broadening access to professionally structured impact investment vehicles across asset classes, enabling investors to make more informed decisions based on a rigorous impact, governance, and transparency framework.

“We share a vision of a world where all investments are impact investments,” said Adam Spence, CEO of SVX Canada. “We hope that this movement into managed products will help impact investors move towards 100% impact portfolio activation.”

“We congratulate SVX on the launch of this managed products collection, an important addition to its Impact Index. We’re grateful for SVX’s long standing commitment to bolstering the impact investing sector in Canada and are confident the Impact Index will become a great resource to the growing number of investors looking to generate positive impact with their investment portfolios.” — Kelly Gauthier, president, Rally Assets

“For Addenda Capital, being featured on the SVX Impact Index is another milestone in helping align impact investors’ capital with real-world solutions. Since launching our Impact Fixed Income Pooled Fund in 2018, we have championed the benefits of impact investing and taken part in industry initiatives to support the field’s maturing process. The Index’s carefully curated selection further strengthens the visibility of impact investing in Canada, working to channel capital toward solutions that can create positive change for generations to come.” — Roger Beauchemin, President and CEO, Addenda Capital

“We are honored to be included in the Impact Index+ alongside our peers in the ecosystem, collectively helping to mobilize more capital toward impact investing in Canada. SVX has demonstrated incredible vision in curating this Index, which we believe can become a centralized and trusted platform for investors — whether they are just exploring or ready to invest — ultimately driving more capital into the space and creating greater impact where it is needed most.” — Stephanie Tsui, Chief Sustainability Officer, Genus Capital Management

How Products Are Screened for Impact: Strengthening Impact Accountability and Investor Confidence

The Impact Index selection criteria for managed products ensures that all products meet high standards across four core dimensions: Management & Governance, Impact Measurement, Financial Performance, and Racial & Gender Equity. Minimum screening requirements include alignment with impact sectors focused on social, environmental, and economic outcomes; an investment size of at least $10 million; investment structures encompassing public and private securities; and availability to Canadian investors, though impact outcomes are not necessarily limited to Canada.

For inclusion in Impact Index+, funds must exceed minimum requirements by demonstrating a strong track record and governance framework, a commitment to transparency through financial and impact reporting, clear impact management strategies aligned with market standards, and diversity and inclusion efforts ensuring representation of diverse racial and gender backgrounds in leadership. A full breakdown of these requirements can be found in the selection criteria.

The review process is rigorous and collaborative. Each product is reviewed by the SVX team and evaluated using our Impact Index+ framework, incorporating feedback from an Advisory Group of industry professionals. This approach ensures the Impact Index remains a trusted resource for investors looking to align their capital with impact. As a pilot initiative, this effort has been instrumental in refining and strengthening the impact assessment framework, with valuable contributions from both advisors and participating firms who have helped to shape a more robust and transparent evaluation process.

Our assessment process includes reviewing documentation such as annual reports, financial statements, offering documents, and impact standards or commitments to assess each fund’s governance, impact, and financial sustainability.

What’s Next?

The SVX Impact Index will continue to evolve to meet the growing demand for impact investment opportunities. Here’s what’s coming:

  • Expanded Product Offering: Today’s announcement represents a pilot set of managed products. The Impact Index will seek to expand the managed products collection over this year to represent the full range of products, with another announcement in fall 2025. Interested managers will be able to submit their products.
  • Market Report: In spring 2025, SVX will release a market report providing insights on the financial performance and impact outcomes of the products within the SVX Impact Index.
  • Criteria Updates: We seek continuous improvement in our process and requirements. Following the first round of reviews to road test the process and criteria, we have updated our selection criteria, providing investors and issuers with a clearer, more effective framework for evaluation.

Issuers on Impact Index+ have met certain requirements or standards in terms of governance, finances, impact, and equity. However, SVX or its advisors do not endorse any investments of any of the organizations, and we do not recommend any investments.
